In his later years Maxine tried out every retirement center in town. During his retirement years he trailered and camped with an abundance of Lansdowne, gardened to the point of excess, wore several fishing poles, danced wherever he could, and traveled through most of the country. The event expanded the joyous occasion from family gatherings. In 1972 Maxine, the only child, married Paul Lansdowne, one of fifteen children. Mostly a homemaker after motherhood, Maxine enjoyed working for Kingfisher Federal Savings and Loans for a decade beginning in 1965. She was a proud member of the Friendship Sunday School class and served one term as class president. Her family was active in the First United Methodist Church where Maxine attended United Methodist Women, Christian Homemakers and served as a board member. Three boys were born to this union, Douglas, David and Brian, who were the joys of her life. After graduating from Helena High School in 1944, she graduated from Enid Business College and began working at McClellan-Smith Supply, where she met and married Raymond Parker Smith in 1946. Maxine was born on April 14, 1926, in Helena, Oklahoma, to Erwin and Virgy (Hayden) Tomlin. Mary Maxine Tomlin Lansdowne of Enid left this world to be with her Lord on January 28, 2022, after a short illness. Arrangements are made by the Anderson-Burris Funeral Home and Crematorium. There will be a private family burial service on Friday.
